Donald I. Peterson, age 88, of Minneapolis, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 2, 2015.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary in Minneapolis, 3640 23rd Ave. S. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary with a visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Private interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Donald was born April 5, 1926 to Gustav & Lillian (McMeekin) Peterson in Minneapolis. He graduated from North High School and attended the University of Minnesota. Don served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. On May 7, 1948 he was united in marriage to Lenore Lindquist. Together they were blessed with 3 children. He was musically inclined and a talented handy-man. Don loved fishing, dancing at the Medina Ballroom, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and being with his family and friends. We will miss him and always remember him fondly.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Lillian Peterson; his brother, Roger Peterson and sister, Bernice Peterson.

Don is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lenore; children, Bruce (Donna), Valerie Bergeron, and James (Karen); 7 grandchildren, Kimberlie (Rob) Musto, Jeffrey Peterson, Michael (Shelley) Peterson, Darcy (Aaron) Murray, Bonnie (Don) Fritel, Dana (Tom) Sandborgh, and MaryKay (Jon Mader) Bergeron; and 9 great-grandchildren, William and Tyler Musto, Cooper and MacKenzie Peterson, Nora and Charlie Murray, Jayce and Brooke Fritel, and Baby Sandborgh on the way.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to donor’s favorite charity.
