Mleynek, Dean E.

Age 91 of Farmington, born June 2, 1931 in Richland Township, Yale, IA to Edward and Sylvia Mleynek, passed away March 31, 2023.

Dean is a 1949 high school graduate of Yale High School, Yale, IA. He was the oldest son of Edward and Sylvia. After graduation he moved to Des Moines, IA and worked as he went to school studying electronics and communications. In 1962 he went to work for Centel Telephone Company in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He worked in the switch room and then went on to Engineering. Dean set up the Time and Temp. call in for everyone in Iowa where you could call and get the exact time and temp every day!  In 1963 Dean married Patricia Mosier and they had one daughter, Colleen born in August 1964.  In 1981 Centel went on strike and Dean worked during this time on the cut over for Minnesota and Iowa 911 system set up and in 1982 was transferred to Minnesota where he continued until 1993 when he retired only to go to work with his daughter Colleen where he did property maintenance Dean liked to build and work on “Important Projects” that he needed to help him in whatever he was doing. He liked to go fishing, camping, spending time with the family, shopping and dinner with Patricia! These were his favorite things to do. He always had a smile and a handshake for everyone and hugs for his daughter.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; mother, Sylvia; father, Edward and brother, Donald.  Dean will be dearly missed by his daughter, Colleen (Kevin) Mleynek-Arndt; dog, Lucy and other family and friends.

A visitation will be held, 5-7 pm, Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 14850 Garrett Ave., Apple Valley and 5-7 PM, Friday, April 7th at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home, 119 W. Lincoln Way, Jefferson, IA.  Funeral Service, 11:00 am, Saturday, April 8th with visitation one hour before at Church of the Brethren, 2946 200th Rd., Panora, IA.  Dean will be laid to rest with his wife, Patricia following the service at the Brethren Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers.
