Wiggins, David D. Age 73, of Minneapolis, died July 8, 2011. Preceded in death by parents, Clarence & Myrl Wiggins; nephew, Tim Vieburg, and brother-in-law, William John- son. Survived by wife, Diane; sisters, Karen Johnson, and Barbara Vieburg; son, David (Lisa); daughter, Kari Lukken (Scott); stepdaughters, Kelly Johnson (Joe), and Karrie Cable; grandchildren, Jordan, Bennett, Casey, Brady, Ian, Tyler, Chelsea, and Brandon; and many other family members. David died with his wife and children by his side as a result of head trauma caused by a fall at home. David graduated in 1955 from Washburn High School where he was a State Champion basketball & baseball player. He earned a degree in history from the U of M. David sang with the Choralaires from 1957-1959 and traveled with the group to Europe giving concerts including the Brussels World Fair. David was employed by Control Data for 23 1/2 years before retiring in 1988. Dave & Diane loved to travel, especially to the western parts of the US & Canada. He was particularly fond of Mt. Hood in Oregon. They also traveled to the North Shore – especially in the fall. David was an avid sports fan. College football, basketball & hockey, Pro football, baseball & golf were among his favorites. David enjoyed doing yard work and waging war against the ever present dandelions and mushrooms. David loved the role of “Grandpa” and spending time with his grandchildren. Most recently he enjoyed being a #1 fan when watching the grandkids participate in all different sporting events. Family & friends are asked to come and share their memories of Dave on Thursday, 7/14 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN. In lieu of flowers the family prefers a donation be made to your favorite charity.
