Franzen, Carlton Emanuel Born in Mpls. on July 1, 1925. He passed away peacefully on Sept. 29, 2009 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of 55 years to June Ellen (nee Storkson); loving father to Mary Ellen (Steve), Julie Ann (Craig), Daniel Carl (Connie) and John David; grandpa to Melissa, Rachel, Sarah and Daniel. Survived by many cousins and friends. Carlton spent his early years in Mpls. He graduated from South High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN in 1946-47. He graduated from the University of MN with a Mechanical Engineering Degree and worked for Mpls. Honeywell for 3 years. Carlton followed his calling to serve the Lord and entered the Augustana Seminary in Rock Island, IL. He was ordained in Jamestown, NY on June 22, 1958. On August 7, 1954 he was united in marriage with June Ellen Storkson at Augustana Lutheran Church, Mpls., MN. With the love and support of his family, Carlton was able to fulfill his service to the Lord by serving a three point parish – Tolley, Green and Antler, ND from 1958-1961; Augustana Lutheran Church, Mpls. as Assistant Pastor from 1961 – 1963; St. Matthew’s – Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoboken, NJ from 1963-1972; New Jersey Lutheran Welfare Association (LSS) as Northern District Coordinator 1972-1982; and Hudson Lutheran Housing Association as Housing Coordinator 1982 until retirement in 1995. His passion was for the people to care for one another as Christ has taught us to do. He used all his skills to enhance that goal from serving and giving a message of hope and faith. Carlton had Parkinson’s disease for 22 years. His positive spirit and sense of humor never left him. He had a deep appreciation for music, especially the old hymns, Greig and Broadway musicals. His memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 2 at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Road, Apple Valley. Visitation begins at 9:30 AM until time of service. Interment will be at Long Lake Community Cemetery, Long Lake Isanti County Friday, Oct. 2 at 2:30 PM.
