Edlund, Carl E., age 92 of S. Mpls., passed away Nov. 13, 2010. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 45 years, Alice and son-in-law, Jeff Sackett. Carl worked for the Railroad Express and was a retired school board employee and teacher. He was a proud WWII Navy Vet, honorably serving in 4 European Invasions and 2 navel battles. One of his great joys after retirement was volunteering for 25 yrs at the Mpls. VA Hospital. He had over 7, 700 hour of volunteer time. His quiet wisdom, happy nature and gentle strength sustained his family. He was a life member of DAV Chaper One, VFW #1296, American Legion, Post #435 and Minnehaha Masonic Lodge. He proudly carried a union card for 50 yrs. Carl was dearly loved by daughters, Judy (Dallas) Book and Jean Sackett; 3 grandchildren (husband & wives) and 3 great-grandchildren. Memorial service Thursday, 3 PM, Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave. S. with visitation one hour prior to service. Private family interment at Ft. Snelling. Memorials perferred to donor’s choice.
