Peterson, Cameron K.
age 90, died peacefully on May 7th, 2014 surrounded by family. Longtime resident of Bloomington and Burnsville, MN, more recently resided at Keystone Senior Communities of Eagan. Cam served in the US Navy on the USS Canfield during WWII. Longtime employee of Gambles Skogmo and National Car Rental. Dedicated Monday volunteer at the MN Zoo for close to 25 years! Enjoyed many years participating in the organ club at Burnsville Schmitt Music. Cam and wife, Ruth, were one of the founding couples of the Bloomington Swirler’s Square Dance Club. Cam was a gifted artist and enjoyed sharing his talent with others, he won many ribbons for his wood burnings at the Dakota County Fair and MN State Fair. He enjoyed holding wood burning seminars at the fair. Survived by loving wife, Ruth, they celebrated their 65th anniversary on April 22. Also survived by daughters, Laurel (Ron) Wittenberg, Barbara Branson, Deb (Bob) Roth, Dawn Iverson, Cheryl (Jim) Fleming; grandchildren, Tami (Randy) Vitales, Jason (Carrie) Wittenberg, Randy Larsen, Brooks Bolser, Andy Roth, Holly Iverson, Brian Roth, Chelsea Branson, Lisa Roth, Alyssa Fleming, Jenna Fleming and Eric Fleming; great-grandchildren, Logan Barnholtz and Regina Wittenberg; sisters, Shirley Peterson and Beverly Hawley; also many loving nieces and nephews and longtime friend and Navy buddy Ray Olson. The family would like to thank all caregivers at Fairview Ridges, Martin Luther Manor, Fairview Hospice and The Lodge in Burnsville for the loving care given to Cam the past several weeks. Services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd., Apple Valley, MN at 11 AM with visitation at 10 AM. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 14 at 10:45 AM. The funeral procession will be leaving Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 147th & Garrett Ave., Apple Valley, at 10:15 AM.
