Lehmann, Arthur Allen “Al”

Age 63 of Apple Valley, passed away peacefully on Aug. 17, 2024, at his home in Apple Valley, surrounded by family and a whole lot of love. Al grew up in Apple Valley graduating from AVHS in 1979.

Al met Kelly Marek and the two began dating in December 1982 and were engaged on February 13, 1983. Yes, Al proposed the day before Valentine’s Day because he just couldn’t wait. Al & Kelly were married in 1985 and began a wonderful life together filled with joy, laughter, love and a bond that many of us wish to have. They created the most incredible life for their kids, Al being a hands on and supportive Dad, teaching and guiding his children until the very end. Al worked as a sheet metal engineer and treasured the last 19 years at Midwest Military. Al and Kelly loved to spend summer and fall days on conveys with their friends in their restored 1952 Army Jeep.

Out of all the roles Al played the one he cherished most, the reason he was put on this earth was for the role of Papa. Al’s unconditional and bursting love for his grandbabies gave him the strength to fight his battle with lung cancer over the last two years. Their smiles, giggles, hugs and countless memories kept Al going. They deserve so much more time with their Papa than they received, but his spirit, and sass, will live on through them forever.

Al survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Kelly; children, Joseph (Megan) and Emily; grandchildren, Oliver, Teddy and Amelia; bonus children, Tyler and Dylan; parents, Barbara and Arthur; siblings, Susan and John. Al entered heaven to meet his grandparents, father, and mother-in-law, brother-in-law, many friends and his buddy, Snickers. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude toward the Mayo Clinic for their fight, care and love for Al.

Funeral at 12noon on Thurs., Aug. 22, 2024, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd., Apple Valley, with visitation one hour prior.
